Sewed autumn decoration - acorn
The acorn is a characteristic fruit of autumn and this inspired us to make such a basket from our sewing twine GREAT WOOL. Sewed autumn decoration in the shape of an acorn will bring originality to your home and at the same time a practical storage place for nuts or chestnuts. Or whatever you can think of….
To make it you will need 2 colours of our sewing cord. We recommend the colours as Linen (or as Sandtone or Cappuccino) and as Chestnut + as PINE for the leaf. Sewing thread in appropriate shades and of course a sewing machine, needle and scissors.
If you don't want to buy a whole 50m skein of our twine, we recommend our creative package. Here you will find everything you need . Sewn autumn decoration in the shape of an acorn
You can find the whole procedure how to sew your twine into an acorn-shaped basket in our following video tutorial.
In the video we will show how to widen when sewing to achieve a straight basket wall. In this case we will also need to taper a bit at the top of the basket. The secret to widening and narrowing is to tilt your work. To the left if we want to widen, perpendicular to the backing if we want to sew straight, and to the right we tilt if we need to taper. Depending on how much we need to make our work smaller/narrower, we combine tilting with stretching the twine.
