About us

Behind the BIGcord brand are the two of us – sisters Zuzana and Petra from Trenčín, Slovakia.

Since 2021, in our own workshop in Pezinok, we have been making recycled cotton cords and yarns for crochet, knitting, sewing and macramé. What started as the VEĽKÁvlna brand continues today as BIGcord, through which we bring our products to makers all across Europe and, step by step, around the world.

We are not just sellers – we are makers. We develop, produce and test every cord ourselves by crocheting, sewing and macramé-ing by hand. That is why we know exactly how our materials behave, and can offer products we truly stand behind.

Our cords are made from recycled cotton fibres, giving new life to textiles that would otherwise end up as waste. We think ecologically, produce responsibly, and believe that a quality product is born from quality material, honest work and years of testing.

Today, BIGcord balls travel to many countries across Europe and gradually beyond its borders. Despite our growth, we remain a family production where quality, honest work and a personal approach always come first.

In 2026, we became winners of the international entrepreneurship programme She's Next by Visa, which supports women in business. This award confirms to us that the path we have taken makes sense, and motivates us to keep pushing the BIGcord brand further.
