Wooden basket bases – oval

The oval wooden base is a plywood foundation (stand) for crocheting baskets, trays and doll cradles. Made in Slovakia from 3 mm poplar plywood, with holes of 10 mm diameter around the perimeter used to crochet the sides of the basket.

The base is available in several oval sizes: 25×12 cm, 25×15 cm, 25×16 cm, 32×20 cm, 35×20 cm and 40×22 cm (the 40×22 cm size is also ideal for a crocheted doll cradle of standard 42 cm length). The range also includes a cradle base 36×73 cm and a round tray base with a 30 cm diameter.

• Material: poplar plywood, 3 mm thick
• Hole diameter: 10 mm
• Recommended cord thickness: 5 mm
• Recommended hook: size 6 or 8

You can paint, varnish or otherwise finish the base before use. As it is a natural material, wood grain patterns and marks may appear – this is not a defect. Handle the base carefully as the holes are fragile. For the first rows we recommend hook size 6, later you can move to a larger size. Remember to increase around the perimeter so the finished basket holds its shape.
