Crocheting Around a Wooden Base

Crocheting Around a Wooden Base

We will need a sturdy plywood base, 5mm cotton cord and a size 6 crochet hook.

For crocheting around a wooden base, we recommend using a smaller hook so that the cord passes more easily through the holes. Pull the cord through a hole with the hook. Leave the resulting loop on the hook, pull a second loop through the next hole, and at the same time draw it through the first loop resting on the hook. This forms the first chain stitch. Continue in the same way.

On the underside we are left with the starting tail of the cord; pull it up to the top, insert the hook from below through the last hole and pull the starting tail through the last stitch to the bottom.

Into the same hole insert the hook from above, pull the cord from the bottom to the top and make a loop.

stand

Make a single crochet into each hole (with a square base, make 3 single crochets into the corners)

crocheting

Work the starting tail of the cord in under the single crochets.

slip stitch

Finish the row by passing the hook from the inside outward through the first stitch of the row. Pull the loop through from the last stitch of the row.
