Crocheted Basket Pattern - No. 2

Crocheted Basket Pattern - No. 2

Another interesting pattern for a crocheted basket. This design is based on alternating a single crochet worked into the back loop and an extended single crochet worked under the single crochet in the previous row.

The basket is made from 5mm cotton cord of our brand BIGcord and a size 8 hook. The wooden base has a diameter of 22cm. This pattern can also be used for a square or rectangular base. You just need to keep in mind that the number of stitches in a row must always be even.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. After crocheting the base, we begin the 1st row with a chain stitch and crochet a single crochet into the back loop of every stitch, including the corners. We finish the row by pushing the hook from the inside outward through the first stitch in the row. Pull through the loop from the last stitch in the row.

2. Slip the hook out of the loop, secure the loop, and push the empty hook under the first single crochet from the previous row. Pull up a loop and you get the first extended single crochet

3. Continue with a single crochet into the back loop and throughout the whole row alternate an extended single crochet and a single crochet into the back loop

4. We finish every row in the same way as described in the first step. Since the resulting stitch is above the extended single crochet, we begin with a regular single crochet, which we work through one loop of the resulting stitch.

5. Repeat the process until you reach the desired height of the basket. You can finish the basket by edging it with slip stitches into the back loop.

The stitches should be tightened more so that the basket is sturdier.
